I really appreciate that you do these classes for us - it is my favourite class of the week.
— Year 12 Student, 2022

Offering yoga and meditation classes at your school is one of the best things that you can do to support the well-being of your students.

I am very passionate about teaching yoga, meditation and well-being to young people. As well as being a highly trained and experienced yoga + meditation teacher, positive psychology practitioner and wellness coach, I have a background in education, counselling and working with youth.

I am based in Wellington, New Zealand. Please contact me here to discuss how I might offer my wellness services at your school or education centre.

I would love to come into your school and teach yoga to your students. I really believe that yoga can provide young people with the tools to live healthy, successful and inspired lives.

What benefits can yoga provide for young people?

  • Enhances self-esteem

  • Increases capacity to relax

  • Builds immunity and prevents injury

  • Provides self-coping and self-soothing strategies

  • Fosters positive relationship building

  • Helps to create body awareness

  • Supports positive mood and increases feelings of happiness

  • Reduces stress and anxiety

  • Promotes healthy body image

  • Enhances mental clarity

  • Enhances creativity

  • Builds physical strength, stamina and flexibility

  • Provides tools to respond effectively to adversity

  • Enhances focus and concentration

Examples of classes I could offer at your school

  1. Gentle and uplifting, beginner friendly yoga classes - this is a hugely popular option with many schools, and I am available for regular weekly classes

  2. Cultivating Calm workshops - this is where I teach students skills (grounded in psychology research) to enhance wellbeing, reduce anxiety and cultivate an inner resource of calm. These workshops are particularly popular with older students, especially those sitting exams.

  3. Positive psychology/wellbeing classes - I teach many of these classes on a weekly basis and they can also be combined with yoga classes. In these classes I share tools and fun exercises to support students' wellbeing, reduce anxiety and cultivate a more positive mindset.

    Exercises include:

    • Breathing exercises i.e. the 4-7-8 breath technique and 'breath of joy'

    • Body scanning/sensing exercises - a lot of research to support this as key to reducing stress

    • Gratitude exercises i.e. '3 Good Things'

    • Loving-kindness meditation - this is fun and there is a lot of evidence to support the benefits

    • Practicing appreciation and praise i.e. 'the appreciation game'

    • Fun mindfulness activities i.e. the mindful chocolate meditation (a massive favourite for obvious reasons!), 5 senses meditations and mindful walks around the school grounds.
